I used to use a website called Delicious to store all of my Internet bookmarks so that I could access them from any computer.
Delicious was a social bookmarking website started in 2003 that allowed users to store, share, and discover web links. Yahoo! bought it in 2005, then it went through a series of sales and acquisitions. Today, the site appears to be dead.
Using modern parlance, Delicious was essentially a cloud bookmarking service. Since cloud bookmarking is now done by most web browsers and is done very well by some websites like Pocket, Delicious became a solution without a problem.
Back in 2006, I used Delicious to:
- Access my bookmarks from any computer
- Easily tag, add descriptions and search my links
- Discover new websites recommended by other people
- Easily add web pages using browser buttons in my web browser
Today, I use Pocket because it has all the features of Delicious, but done better. It also has an additional feature that will read your saved articles to you out loud. This feature is great because now I can listen to my saved articles the same way I listen to podcasts.
