When you go to a Major League Baseball game, chances are, you are watching at least one future Hall of Famer playing. These are the legendary players who will someday have a plaque at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York. They are players who will be remembered for as long as baseball is still played.
I took the 25 active players who I think have the best chances at being future Hall of Famers (HoFers) and put them on one team. It’s not an All-Star team, it’s more like an All-HoF team. Of course, not all of these players will be enshrined in Cooperstown, but each of these players will at least be considered after they finally retire as ballplayers.
Each of the players I’ve selected here are healthy and ready to play baseball in the 2025 season. You will find some active players missing—Clayton Kershaw, Gerrit Cole, Johnny Cueto, and Anthony Rendon—these players were passed up because they’re either injured or remain unsigned by any team. So without further ado, this is the 2025 Future Hall of Famers team:
Starting Lineup
- Juan Soto (RF)
- Mike Trout (CF)
- Freddie Freeman (1B)
- Aaron Judge (LF)
- Mookie Betts (SS)
- Paul Goldschmidt (DH)
- Jose Ramirez (3B)
- J.T. Realmuto (C)
- Marcus Semien (2B)
Bench
- Nolan Arenado (3B)
- Manny Machado (3B)
- Francisco Lindor (SS)
- Bryce Harper (1B)
- Carlos Correa (SS)
- Jason Heyward (RF)
- Andrew McCutchen (DH)
- Matt Olson (1B)
Starting Rotation
- Justin Verlander (SP)
- Max Scherzer (SP)
- Chris Sale (SP)
- Jacob deGrom (SP)
- Aaron Nola (SP)
Bullpen
- Carlos Carrasco (SP)
- Corbin Burnes (SP)
- Zack Wheeler (SP) [Closer]
Zack Wheeler would make an excellent closer because he doesn’t allow many people on base and just last season struck out batters at a rate of 10.1 per 9 innings.
If I could tweak the top 25 to balance out the team more, I’d replace Carlos Correa, Jason Heyward, Andrew McCutchen, and Matt Olson with: Adley Rutschman as a second catcher and Lance Lynn, Yu Darvish, and Max Fried as some extra arms in the bullpen.
Shohei Ohtani barely missed the cut, and would very likely be on this team next year, especially as some of the older players retire.
