I’ve put together a massive spreadsheet of baseball players with some basic statistical analysis. The spreadsheet has four sheets, over 3,500 players, and stats from 1876 through 2024. With it, I can do all sorts of compilations and comparisons between players.
For instance, Topps has been producing their flagship Topps Baseball Cards every year since 1952. I used the spreadsheet to quickly put together an all-star team of the greatest players since 1952.

Of course, to make a true All-Star team, we need backup players on the reserves. The dugout bench would look something like this:
- Albert Pujols OF
- Pete Rose OF
- Cal Ripken Jr. SS
- Mickey Mantle OF
- Carl Yastrzemski OF
- Miguel Cabrera 3B
- Joe Morgan 2B
- Ivan Rodriguez C
- Eddie Murray 1B
And the reserve pitchers in the bullpen would be:
- Randy Johnson
- Steve Carlton
- Tom Seaver
- Greg Maddux
- Nolan Ryan
- Mariano Rivera (the closer)
All of the position players on this team have a combined 8,658 home runs, for an average of 481 home runs per player.
All of the pitchers on this team have a combined 27,581 strikeouts, for an average of 3,940 strikeouts per pitcher.
