The Key to a Lasting Marriage

Most people will tell you that the key to a lasting marriage is compromise.

I agree. But it goes deeper than that. Compromise is just one component of a bigger attribute.

I’ve been married for more than 13 years. We’ve had ups and downs. Let me tell you, compromise alone would not have kept our marriage together.

The real key to a long marriage is hard work. You have to to keep working at it. The moment you get lazy, your marriage will begin to grow stale. Let it go stale too long, and it will turn bitter.

Love is an action. Resolve to do it every day. Your spouse is not loved unless you love them. You are not loved unless your spouse works at loving you.

Be grateful. Always value your marriage. All valuable things are the result of hard work.
